Truth in Cosmetic Surgery Advertising

Wednesday, January 15th
Networking begins at 11:30am, Luncheon from 12pm-1pm
Juban's Creole Restaurant
Have you seen your dentist or hair stylist advertising Botox and other cosmetic services... making you raise an eyebrow? It's not uncommon to find gynecologists offering liposuction, ophthalmologists doing breast augmentation, dentists performing facelifts, and family practice physicians giving Botox injections. The unregulated nature of cosmetic surgery is raising concern amongst plastic and reconstructive surgeons nationally and statewide.
Join us as Dr. John Dean, F.A.C.S. of Associates in Plastic Surgery discusses with us all of the advertisements you now see offering a wide variety of cosmetic procedures that in yesterday's world were only offered by cosmetic surgeons.
Dr. Dean joined Associates in Plastic Surgery in 1998. He is a 1983 graduate of the Texas A&M University College of Medicine, and completed his internship and residency in general surgery at Ochsner Medical Institution in New Orleans. He trained in plastic and reconstructive surgery and hand surgery at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, VA, where he was chief resident in 1990.
Dr. Dean spent his first five years in Baton Rouge as the plastic surgeon for the Ochsner Clinic. In addition to cosmetic surgery, he brought additional excellence to APS' resources with his extensive reconstructive surgery background, and broadened the coverage the practice could offer in microsurgery and hand surgery.
Please join us for Dr. Dean's "Truth in Cosmetic Surgery Advertising"!
