Event description

Description

The Graduate Certificate in Documentary Media Studies is proud to present its twelfth annual festival of original short films made by students in the class of 2018.

Each work is the result of a year of intensive study in documentary cinema -- production, history and theory -- by students from around the world. This year’s class includes students from South Africa, Iran, India, Brazil, Colombia, Panama, Lebanon, Scotland and the U.S. The festival is hosted by Deanna Kamiel, director of the Doc Studies program at The New School. Screenings will be followed by a faculty-led Q & A with the filmmakers. Admission is free and open to the public. A reception takes place after the Tuesday night screening.

The Documentary Media Studies certificate is awarded for successful completion of a one-year, full-time, graduate-level program of study, a unique opportunity to explore documentary filmmaking in a small, intensive program in New York City, the world's documentary capital. The program’s faculty include Deirdre Boyle, Amir Husak, Deanna Kamiel, Rafael Parra and Peter Sillen. Program associate is MA Media Studies student Cristina Muller.
