Please join the Illinois Office of Energy & Recycling at The Trutter Center & Museum on Springfield's Lincoln Land Community College campus for an event designed to network and provide public officials and the Illinois design, energy modeling, and code enforcement communities with the tools to quickly assess the validity of High Performance building submissions for 2015 IECC compliance.
The Illinois Office of Energy & Recycling welcomes Public Officials, Energy Modelers, Designers and Code Officials to ask: Are High Performance Building Designs and Certification Programs Code Compliant?
An increasing number of Illinois projects are pursuing High Performance due to increasingly stringent energy codes. With this, comes the use of sophisticated modeling tools to unlock the potential of projects, validate savings goals for politicians granting incentives and confirm results, often within a short timeframe.
This workshop will introduce participants to a practical process for breaking-down this complexity into a manageable effort to instill confidence among all parties involved. Real world case studies are used to solidify course concepts with participants engaging in mock reviews.
The goal, to provide insights into the “smell-tests” used by experienced modelers and code officials that reveal the flaws in certain energy models being submitted by design houses that think they know “code compliance” because they know modeling.
After completing this seminar, participants will be better able to:
- Understand key motivations for choosing a High Performance path;
- Comprehend the differences between energy code compliance and LEED models;
- Identify basic submission requirements;
- Read/Interpret basic energy simulation results;
- Gain the tools to quickly check validity of LEED submissions;
- Know what types of questions to ask for resubmittal.
