Trolley Tour of Cypress Lawn Cemetery

Wednesday, September 11, 2019, 11:10 AM - 2:15 PM

MEET at The Colma BART stop before 11:15 AM

365 D St, Colma, CA 94014)

This is a Members only Docent-led, CGS coordinated Trolley Tour.  CGS Coordinators:

Maureen Hanlon - mhanlon@CaliforniaAncestors.org

Jane Lindsey - jlindsey@CalifornaAncestors.org

Join CGS members on Wednesday, September 11, for a docent-led Trolley Tour of Cypress Lawn Cemetery in Colma. Cypress Lawn was founded in 1892.  With hundreds of acres of California coastline and a history dating back to the 19th century, the historic grounds are home to arboretums, century-old chapels, lakes, fountains, gardens, and the final resting place of many notable Californians, including those whose remains were moved from Laurel Hill Cemetery in San Francisco.

Attendees will plan to take BART to Colma stop. The trolley will meet us there. Please arrive at Colma no later than on the 11:19 BART. A place will be provided for us to have our bag lunches with a chance to socialize.

The tour will begin at 12:15.  Our docent will not only talk about the cemetery but also their database to search for burial records.  We have indicated we are genealogists and they will gear the tour towards that.  Some snacks will be available on the tours.

The tour will last 1.5 – 2 hours. After the tour, we will be driven back to BART.

If you plan to drive please make your own arrangements. The phone at the Memorial Park is  (650) 667-7404). The address is:

1370 El Camino Real, Col;ma, CA 94014.   The website for directions and more:  www.cypresslawn.com
