An eclectic evening of secrets and narrative at the Museum of Broken Relationships.
This experience invites us to take a closer look at three unconventional projects: The Museum of Broken Relationships, PostSecret, and Atlas Obscura. What these endeavors have in common is that they are collaborative efforts inspired and fueled by brave, generous, and adventurous communities willing to share their stories and experiences. In this eclectic evening we’ll explore and celebrate what makes them similar and what makes them unique.
We will gather at the Museum of Broken Relationships where we’ll have full access to its exhibition. Alexis Hyde, director of the Museum; Frank Warren, the mind behind PostSecret and Siegfried Tieber, Atlas Obscura Field Agent will share stories and anecdotes about their peculiar fields of endeavor.
This experience includes:
-access to the full exhibition of the Museum of Broken Relationships
-interactive PostSecret exhibition
-access to the Museum of Broken Relationships confessionary
-a drink (wine/beer/water) on us
*Part of the ticket sales will be destined to Active Minds, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising mental health awareness among college students.
The Museum of Broken Relationships explores shattered love and other human relationships, what they mean to us and how we can learn and grow from them. Each exhibit is an object (some of them ordinary, some of them not so) and a story—all of them donated anonymously by members of the public from all over the world.
PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a postcard—there are no limitations, as long as the confessions are true and they have never been shared with anyone before. Secrets range from regret, fear and betrayal to confession, desire and love. It all began with a simple idea, but the response was overwhelming.
Atlas Obscura is a community driven (and editor curated) project that uncovers unusual and overlooked locations and stories, it has been described as “an online compendium of The World's Wonders, Curiosities, and Esoterica". Later on it moved to incorporate live experiences (like the one you’re reading about right now) that encourage discovery and exploration.
This experience is recommended for attendants 18 and over.
Advance ticket sales only. All sales are final.
