Description

Greetings Potential Volunteers!

We are glad you are here! On May 24, 2018, we launched our first volunteer event, for our agriculture campaign ‘PLANTE LAKAY, MANJE LAKAY’, translated as Plant Local, Eat Local. The project requires 5 years to be fully implemented and is estimated to cost $50,000. To get started on meeting the financial needs of this campaign, Our Goal is to raise $10,000.00 per year, by continuing to bring volunteers to our donated land to help us plant trees for a better Haiti.

Deforestation in Haiti is commonly seen as a severe environmental problem, causing mudslides, and a shortage of food for the population. Haitians burn wood charcoal for domestic energy production. ... In 1923 over 60% of Haiti's land was forested. In 2006, the country was claimed to have less than 2% forest cover, we have to continue to do something about this!

Another issue that Haiti is dealing with is, according to the World Food Program, food insecurity is persistent in Haiti and today nearly 30 percent of the population is considered food insecure; of these 165,000 people are in severe food insecurity, and 860,000 would require immediate assistance should their situation be further weakened. We don't just plant trees to help with our deforestation issues, we plant trees to help feed the population i.e. avocado trees, coconut, lemon, not to mention melons, cherries etc. We cannot do any of this without the help of donors and volunteers.

If you cannot join us, please donate whatever you can to support this life-changing cause. Your contributions are greatly valued, and appreciated.
