Three leading string players from the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center —Arnaud Sussman, violin, Paul Neubauer, viola, and David Finckel, cello—perform an extraordinary showcase of Essential String Trios by Beethoven, Penderecki and Mozart. Beethoven’s dazzling G major Trio, filled with buoyant energy and charm, opens the program. Then comes the preeminent 20 th c. example of the genre, the dramatic yet lyrical Trio by Krzysztof Penderecki. Mozart’s majestic Divertimento, his first and only music for string trio, ends the concert. Many music lovers believe the string trio is even more demanding for performers than the string quartet. Don’t miss hearing three of the world’s best string players perform Essential Trios in the Waterford Old School.
