KRISTINE SAYS…A little bit about me:
I'm lucky enough to have been a FCBD® troupe member since 2005, studying directly under Carolena Nericcio since 2003. This means being in the studio 3+ days a week, blood sweat and tears, side by side with the greats of ATS® ie: Carolena Nericcio, Wendy Allen, Anita Lalwani, Sandi Ball, Marsha Poulin, Colette Todorov, Jessie Gauld, Karen Gehrman and the likes. I know my ATS®. Make sure to take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn from me as I wind my way around the world. I can't wait to sweat it out with all you lovelies!

HELPFUL INFORMATION ABOUT SILVERTON
Silverton is a quaint and historic Victorian mining town located 50 miles north of Durango in the heart of Colorado's majestic San Juan Mountains. The town is a National Historic Landmark, and is surrounded by public lands, so opportunities for outdoor recreation including hiking, mountain biking, camping, jeeping, etc. abound. September is a wonderful time of year to view the fall colors. More information on Silverton area activities can be found on the Silverton Chamber of Commerce website: www.silvertoncolorado.org.

Please note that Silverton sits an elevation of 9,318 feet above sea level and is accessible only via high mountain passes. While altitude sickness is not a problem for most visitors, you should be aware of its symptoms which include headaches, dizziness and shortness of breath. One of the best ways to avoid altitude sickness is to drink lots of water before you arrive and while you are here. Allowing a day or two to acclimate, eating light meals, reducing your alcohol intake and getting plenty of rest will also help.

The weather in Colorado can be unpredictable. It can be very warm and sunny in September, or we may experience snow. Nighttime temperatures can vary by as much as 30 degrees from daytime highs. Your best bet is to be prepared for anything Mother Nature may dish out! Bring everything from tank tops to warmer layers and flip flops to closed toe shoes.

LODGING & LOGISTICS
Two airports are roughly equidistant from Silverton: the Durango La Plata County Airport (DRO) and the Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ), which are 62.3 and 60.25 miles from Silverton respectively. Airport shuttles can be arranged through www.silvertontransportation.com.

With the exception of the Friday night meet & greet and the Saturday night after party, all workshops, vending and the hafla will take place at Kendall Mountain Community Center. Classes and the hafla will be in the Grand Ballroom, which is a beautiful timber framed space with hardwoods floors, ample natural light and fantastic mountain views. KMCC is a short walk from Silverton’s downtown area, or if you prefer to drive, the facility also has a large lot with ample free parking. For more information about KMCC visit http://www.sanjuancountycolorado.us/kendall-mnt.html

We have arranged a block of rooms at the historic Grand Imperial Hotel, which is offering a 20% discount for dancers. This special rate is available for the nights of September 22 - 25th, 2016 and the deadline for booking is May 1, 2016. A credit card is required to hold your reservation and cancellations must be made 72 hours before your arrival date to avoid penalties. To book, email Paula at paula@grandimperialhotel.com and use the discount code FALLBD20.

Private vacation homes can also be rented through Silverton Property Management: www.silvertonpropertymanagement.com.

This year bagged lunches will be available for pre-order – more information coming soon.

REFUND POLICY
Please note that workshop registration fees are non-refundable, however they are transferable. If you have purchased tickets and are unable to attend, it is your responsibility to sell your spot to another dancer. Please email calderabellydance@gmail.com with your name, the classes you have registered for, and the name of the dancer who will be taking your place.

LIABILITY WAIVER
Please check with your doctor before beginning any exercise or health regimen. Caldera Belly Dance, any Tribal Summit instructors, the Town of Silverton, and their associates accept no responsibility for personal injury that may take place during the classes or while arriving at or leaving the facilities.
