Description

Missing out on the 2019 National Cup Tasters Competition in Edmonton?

We got you covered. We will host our inaugural triangulation tasters challenge to bring a bit of the taster’s cup to you!

What is triangulation?

Triangulation is a sensory test to improve your skills in determining subtle differences between coffees. It is a method used by coffee professionals for quality control and can be used for purchasing and selling coffee.

In other words, its a blind tasting challenge!

All are welcome to participate! What better way to taste some great coffees without the added pressure of a real Q grading exam?

  • Our challenge is simple. There will be six to eight sets of triangulation cupping (three cups per set)

  • Identify the odd cup out of the three (eg. Cup B and C are the same, Cup A is different)

  • Identify the origin of the coffee (eg. Cup A is from El Salvador). The origins will be listed at each set to choose from

  • Each participant will identify each set and then move onto the next one. You may circle back to a previous set

  • You will fill in all the blanks on the provided scoresheet

  • If we end up with a tie, a new set of origins will be provided

The top three challengers will take home some nice gear and coffee!

  • 1st place will receive a TIMEMORE BLACK MIRROR SINGLE SENSOR SCALE

  • 2nd and 3rd place will receive a beautiful Kinto coffee server

  • The top three will also take home some special Hatch coffee beans!

There will be a $20 fee for all challengers. All challengers must pay online.

Free for those who want to come watch! We do ask for an RSVP as space is limited at our lab. Please shoot us an email at crew@hatchcrafted.com
