Event Details

The Emergency Medicine Patient Safety Foundation is pleased to bring to you this important and timely webinar entitled: Triage to Treatment: Aoiding Delays and Reducing Risks

Presenters: Kathleen Shostek, RN, ARM, BBA, FASHRM, CPHRM and Robert Schafermeyer, MD, FACEP, FIFEM, FAAP

This webinar will provide a review of the high risk conditions and factors contributing to emergency department (ED) liability claims.  Emphasis will be on how an analysis of adverse events and liability actions can help direct successful risk reduction and patient safety improvements in the ED. These include triage staffing and design, as well as physician-approved rapid triage protocols for high risk conditions.

The use of critical question sets in triage to support obtaining the right information rapidly to reduce delays in diagnosis and treatment will be reviewed. Case examples of what went wrong at triage, and then what went right, will be used to demonstrate how hospitals and ED physicians can collaborate to improve safety and reduce risk.
