Inspired by: Getting Serious About Fun: Why You Need to Have Fun at Work Blog Post

Be honest: When’s the last time you had fun at work?

Don’t know? Can’t remember? That’s a shame.

A lot of entrepreneurs approach work with a serious mind. But just because you take your work seriously, that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with it, too.

In fact, having fun at work is actually one of the best ways to improve your productivity, boost employee retention, quash office drama before it starts, and create a better client experience.

Psychologists have done the research on fun, and they’ve found some interesting things. Science tells us that fun:

  • boosts job performance

  • smooths out interpersonal relationships

  • increases objective measures of job satisfaction

...and much more.

In other words: A fun worker is an effective worker.

Besides...why spend half your life at the office if it’s never going to be any fun?

In this Trep Talk (featuring guest facilitator Mike Straus of Brand Gesture), we’ll have an interactive group discussion around the role of fun at work and what having fun can do for your bottom line & mental health. We’ll dive into the research around fun, talk about ways to incorporate fun at the office without getting completely off track, and make a fun action plan that you can use to start having more fun with your work right now.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll be having so much fun you’ll want to start a band with Brian Wilson & sing about Ford Thunderbirds.

Key takeaways will include:

  • Why having fun at work is actually good for your productivity (It’s not just “goofing off”)

  • What an effective Fun Action Plan looks like and how to create one for your business

  • How to avoid the trap of corporatized “fun” and make work genuinely enjoyable (Hint: Stop trying to micro-manage every little detail)
