The 2019 30th Annual Trenton Woodlot Conference is focused on a "Returning to our Roots: Down to Earth Forestry" theme.

About this Event

Welcome to Trenton Woodlot Conference registration site. This is the 30th year for the Conference, and we believe our line-up of speakers will provide a valuable and informative forum to allow woodlot owners to supplement their knowledge of forestry practices and help them to enrich the health of the woodlots they love and enjoy. The Conference will include the following agenda:

  • 8:00 – 8:45 Arrivals, coffee and networking
  • 8:45 – 9:00 Welcome
  • 9:00 – 10:15 Sebastian Belliard, with OMAFRA: “What’s Under the Leaf Litter”
  • 10:15 – 10:45 Morning Break
  • 10:45 – 12:00 Thom Snowman, OWA: “The Inclusive Forest: Wetlands, Water, Wildlife and Wood”
  • 12:00 – 1:00 Hot Lunch provided by Andreas Appelbaum of Let’s EAT Catering, plus Exhibits & Networking
  • 1:00 – 1:45 Joe Reid with City of Belleville: “Beavers: Struggles with Co-existence”
  • 1:45 – 2:30 Ian Fife with Bird Studies Canada: “Technology in the Forest: Creating your Biodiversity Inventory”
  • 2:30 – 3:00 Todd Fritzley with BPF Safety "Chainsaw Safety Basics"
  • 3:00 - 3:15 Wrap-up.

Afternoon Field Tour – In addition to the above sessions, an afternoon field tour will be available for attendees wishing to experience tree identification guidelines, forest health evaluation and tree marking criteria. The Field Tour begins at 1:00 at an adjacent woodlot and will be conducted by a registered arborist. Attendees wishing to take part are asked to be mindful of possible weather and forest conditions and concerns. Further details will be available.

NOTE: Registration for attendees is $40, with OWA members receiving a $5 discount. Persons wishing to become members, or renew their membership ($50) may do so prior to their ticket process, and then register for the discount price ($35). New memberships will apply for 2020 membership year.

NOTE2: It is our intention to make this a Zero Waste event, and are asking all attendees to ensure any food and/or drinks they bring into the event is done so in re-useable containers. Thank You.
