The 2017 Trenton Mercer Airport

Disaster Exercise

In conjunction with Mercer County and some State agencies, a full-scale disaster drill is being held on May 6, 2017.  The airport fire chief, as well as the airport manager, has asked CAP to provide personnel to participate in the exercise.

Here are the particulars:

*          The scenario is a plane crash of a fully-loaded Airbus of the type that flies in and out of the airport.  All the surrounding EMS, fire and police agencies, as well as others, will participate.

*         The airport has requested 180 “crash victims.”  These can be cadets 12 – 18 yrs old as well as seniors.

*         They have also requested at least 10 cadets/seniors for exercise helpers to direct traffic, escort VIPs, etc.

*         The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 6.  The actual “disaster” runs between 1000 and 1200 but volunteers will be asked to report in staggered groups beginning as early as 0700 (for those closest) right up to the time of the drill for moulage treatment.  Some volunteers won’t require full moulage, they will just be “dead” from blunt force trauma.  A light breakfast of muffins, juice and milk will be provided.

*         The exercise has a hard stop at noon when all participants will be treaded to a BBQ lunch.

Each volunteer will receive

breakfast & lunch

a bright colored towel, t-shirt and lanyard.

                                     CAP Form 161

                                     Poncho or Rain Gear

Zip lock bags to put your valuables in in case of rain.

Civilian clothing in line with what people usually wear when flying on a  commercial airliner.  Please NOTE that you should dress in OLD clothing which you are willing to have get dirty or torn.

DROP OFF: The exercise begins at 1000 but we are asking our members to arrive between 0700 and 0800.  If you want to experience the magic of moulage - being dressed and made up to appear to be injured - we recommend you arrive early.

We will stage at Twin Pine Composite Squadron Headquarters located at 241 Scotch Road (National Guard Hangar), Ewing, NJ. Buses will then transport all participants to the drill.

PICK UP: End time will be 2:00PM.  Parents can pick up their cadets from the same drop off location - Twin Pine Squadron Headquarters.

Transportation is not provided.   Squadrons and members should work together to car pool to the Twin Pine Squadron Headquarters.

Should be directed to Maj. Norm Stewart, Twin Pine Squadron Commander at
