Trench and Excavation for the Competent Person
Friday, April 7, 2017 from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM (PDT)
This class takes place Friday, April 7th, from 7:30am - 3:30pm
The OSHA Construction Standard defines a competent person as someone who is:
•Capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings, or
•Working conditions which are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous to employees, and
•Who has authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them.
Trenching and excavation work is dependent on these specialized employees because its highly technical nature, as well as its inherent hazards, require a greater level of training and experience than a normal worker would possess. This course covers the shoring standard, duties and required knowledge, soil analysis, hydraulic shoring, shoring boxes and shields, sloping, benching and trenches as confined spaces. Compliant with CCR Title 8, Sections 1504 and 1539-1543.
