About this Event

THREE CHICAGO TENORS PAY TRIBUTE TO BLACK CLASSICAL TENOR LEGENDS

CHICAGO—While Chicago is well known as the home of The Blues, that's not the whole story. From early in our nation's history black singers have been excelling as classical musicians and have had a home on the city's South Side. Now a long overdue tribute to one group of them will take place on Chicago's lakefront. South Shore Opera Company of Chicago presents a concert featuring the contributions made by Black American Classical Tenors. This is an opportunity to discover a history that few are aware of, while listening to that extraordinary tenor sound; not to be missed. The details are as follows:

Dunner, Interim Artistic Director and Music Director of South Shore Opera Company, leads the singers and chamber orchestra in a diverse program including works by Mozart, Puccini, Wagner, Gershwin and Coleridge Taylor as well as traditional hymns and songs.
