Trees of Philadelphia

This course will provide an overview of our urban forest, with a focus on the trees of Philadelphia. There will be in-depth discussion of tree species including identification, physiology, growth and ecology.
Dr. David Hewitt is a Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania. He has been a member of the faculty of the Wagner Free Institute of Science since 2011 and is also a Research Associate in the Department of Botany at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University. His work includes botanical surveys, mycological studies, and the history of botany, among other areas. He has also worked in agricultural and environmental policy, as a farmer, and as a teacher.
