Event description

Description

Want to learn about the trees and shrubs native to our area? Fall is a great time to be outdoors to observe woody plants, their distinct foliage, fruit, and branching patterns. Join us for a beginner’s plant ID walk where we walk through a variety of native habitats to find oaks, madrone, coffeeberry, snowberry, and more! We will take the Mayfair Ranch Trail and return via the Longwall Canyon Trail for a total of 4.3 miles with 500 feet of elevation gain. Trail vista points offer spectacular views of the Diablo Range and Mt. Hamilton.

Meet in the preserve parking lot, and bring a hat, water, and a bag lunch. Dress in layers, and appropriately for late fall weather. Heavy rain cancels. Prior knowledge of native plants or botany is not required!
