Groundwater Pumping and its Impacts of Wisconsin Lakes, Streams, and Wetlands

GCWhether or not to limit groundwater pumping by high capacity wells in Wisconsin has been a political hot potato. George J. Kraft, Ph.D. and University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Professor Emeritus, will explain the science of groundwater, groundwater pumping, and how pumping in parts of the state is drying surface waters.

Dr. Kraft has dedicated his career to researching and providing outreach on how lakes and streams have been dried by groundwater pumping; modernizing laws and policy regarding groundwater pumping and pesticide pollution of groundwater; and assisting stewardship groups in organizing an managing their water resources.

Doors for this event will open at 5 p.m. Treehaven's Trailside Nature Gift Shop (located down the hall from the main Treehaven office) will be open from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
