Tree Planting-Afternoon Session
Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM
On September 6th, 2010, a human caused wildfire occurred in the Fourmile Canyon area of Boulder County which, over the course of a one-week period, burned 6,181 acres of forest land and destroyed 169 residences. Since that time, significant efforts have been made by private and public landowners to both mitigate post fire impacts and speed up recovery of burned areas. Last year, over 40 volunteers planted 750 ponderosa pine seedlings at the top of a severely burned drainage in order to augment and enhance tree recovery. This year we will continue our efforts in this drainage and plant over 1000 seedlings.
Volunteers for the afternoon session are asked to meet at the Boulder County Justice Center no later than 1:00pm. Van shuttles will take participants to the worksite (seven miles up Sushine Canyon) and return to Boulder no later than 5:00pm.
Minimum age is 16 with adult supervision. If you have any questions, please contact Shane Milne at 303-678-6089.
