Tree Care & Ground Operations Training
Trainer: Phillip Kelley
$10 registration fee; max 30 participants

This workshop is designed for tree care professionals and municipal employees that perform maintenance on street and park trees.

Participants will learn:

  • Basic tree biology

  • Tree pruning

  • Proper planting and transplanting of trees

  • Basic plant health care

  • Principles of cabling, bracing, and lightning protection for trees

  • Basic safety concepts required to work on the ground during tree care operations

  • Job site hazard analysis, including traffic control

  • Client communication

  • Safety requirements mandated by ANSI Z133 and OSHA

Sign-in begins at 9:30am. The workshop will be a mix of classroom and outdoor instruction. Appropriate attire and PPE required. Participants should bring their own lunch. Approved for 3.5 ISA continuing education credits.

Trainer Biography: Phillip Kelley is a Lead Instructor with North American Training Solutions (NATS). The company averages 150 courses per year with more than 6,200 students annually. Since its founding in 2005, NATS has performed training and educational workshops to more 20,000 students in the US, Puerto Rico, Canada, Brazil, and Australia. Phillip has 24 active years of field experience and has worked for NATS since 2009. He is a Certified Arborist, a Certified Line Clearance Tree Trimmer, past president of the Georgia Arborist Association, and is a Certified Instructor for all Tree Care Industry Association training programs.
