Description
Celebrated historian, broadcaster and film-maker Michael Wood - author of BBC's The Story of India, In The Footsteps of Alexander the Great, Conquistadors and much more - will be delivering a talk in the Royal Geographical Society's wonderful Ondaatje Theatre entitled TRAVELS IN INDIA, in aid of The Angus McDonald Trust. The event complements the exhibition of spectacular images INDIA'S DISAPPEARING RAILWAYS by Australian photojournalist Angus McDonald on display at the RGS-IBG's Pavilion Gallery, and coincides with the Society's 'On View' display of its archival material relating to the history of India's railways on the same day.
Guests will be able to view the free exhibition, and to take advantage of the Society's cash bar before luxuriating in the Ondaatje's very comfortable seats and enjoying what promises to be a hugely entertaining evening with Michael, who is known for his warm and witty style.
The event is organised by The Angus McDonald Trust to help raise funds for the delivery of healthcare projects in remote SE Asia, in association with grassroots organisations. Its flagship work is in the Karen State region of Myanmar, where the Trust is currently building a healthcare training clinic.
