Overview of services available, what domestic and intimate partner abuse is, and the impact of TBI on survivors.

This presentation talks about the prevalence of traumatic brain injury in survivors of domestic and intimate partner abuse, as well as tips for helping clients that may be suffering from a TBI as a result of intimate partner abuse. Greater than 90% of injuries secondary to domestic violence are to the head, neck and face region, making the likelihood of a TBI in survivors, probable. After attending this interactive training, the individual will be familiar with the HELPPS screening tool for TBI, the PEARR screening method for domestic and intimate partner abuse, as well as Turning Points services and how to refer clients.
