Event description
A no cost workshop on practical strategies for recognizing and teaching children who have experienced trauma.

About this Event

Educators are seeing ever-increasing numbers of students with significant emotional and behavioral problems, a challenge to manage and maintain a peaceful, positive and effective classroom. Kindergarten readiness is at the forefront of educational improvements and early childhood educators can benefit greatly from learning more about the effects of trauma on young children and how to better support them.

Participants will learn multi-discipline strategies for working with children who have experienced trauma, helping educators establish a stable learning environment for all children.

Curriculum will include information from Conscious Discipline, Love and Logic, and Positive Behavior Support best practices.

This workshop is provided at no cost to daycare and preschool staff who work and/or live in St. Charles County. A continental breakfast and coffee are included.

Parking for the workshop is limited, please plan to carpool when possible.

Clock hours are available for those who qualify. Please provide your OPEN MO ID at registration.

Workshop Facilitators:

Karen Thomson, M.A. Early Childhood Learning Specialist & Resource Development, St. Louis Learning Disabilities Association.

Mari Doyle, Early Childhood Outreach, St. Louis Learning Disabilities Association.
