Welcome To the Beautiful Oshkosh Waterfront
On behalf of Reach Counseling we would like to welcome you to the second Trauma Informed Symposium – Wisconsin: Healing Trauma in Youth and Adults. This year the conference highlights a wide variety of evidence based, trauma specific workshops for professionals and community members. Day one of the symposium highlights increasing our understanding, response and treatment of trauma in adults. Day two will concentrate on prevention, response and treatment of trauma in children and youth. Both days will provide “hands on” tools for working with individuals whose physical, psychological and emotional states have been impaired by trauma.
The impact of trauma affects individuals, families and communities by disrupting healthy development, adversely affecting relationships and contributing to serious mental and physical health issues. As communities begin to grapple with the impact of generational trauma the need grows for greater awareness, impactful response and evidence based models of treatment. Addressing trauma in an informed way involves using a framework of recognition, understanding and engagement. The overall purpose of this Symposium is to incorporate intentional, evidence based, trauma specific tools that will create informed responses to trauma throughout communities.
