The Kentucky Office of the Attorney General, Office of Trafficking and Abuse Prevention and Prosecution, presents this free virtual conference on the intersection between sexual violence and human trafficking. The conference is a multi-disciplinary training directed toward law enforcement, attorneys, social workers, and medical practitioners who are investigating, treating and prosecuting sex trafficking.
The conference will review the signs of human trafficking and Kentucky's current laws related to human trafficking. A segment focused on Sexual Assault Incident Report Writing will concentrate on law enforcement's identification and documentation of relevant evidence and details from victims, suspects, and witnesses. A prosecutor’s round-table discussion will highlight pointers for successful prosecution of human trafficking cases. Another segment will focus on the use of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners to treat victims of sexual assault and identify of victims of human trafficking. A survivor will speaking about her experience as a victim of human trafficking, the challenges she has faced, and how she has been able to use that experience to help other survivors through a Child Victims' Trust Fund Grant. This conference is funded by a Violence Against Women Act STOP Grant, grant no. VAWA 2019 OAG-00642, from the United States Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women.
