Trauma Informed Resilience Culture for Self-Directed Learning Communities
Event Information
About this Event
Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) is an organizational change movement that was born out of the desire to reduce the use of seclusion and restraints in psychiatric hospitals in the1990's. It has evolved to be a compassionate approach to professional practice in all sectors of public service. Hospitals, Schools, Police Departments, Social Services, and Prisons have invested in training their staff to be "Trauma-Informed". Its principles are safety, trust, voice & choice, collaboration, empowerment, peer engagement, historical- cultural & gender context humility, and resilience.
Trauma-Informed Resilience Culture (TIRC) is a community of practice culture, designed to expand on TIC; committed to practicing Mindfulness, SEL, Creative Problem Solving, and Brain-based Co-regulation.
Beth Sarver will present an interactive online learning experience that will orient you to the unique opportunities found through integrating Trauma-informed Resilience Practices into Self-Directed Learning Communities. Sudbury Schools, Democratic Schools, Universities and Community Learning Organizations will all benefit from integrating this approach into their practice. Anyone who is curious will benefit from this introductory experience. Beth has trained thousands of professionals in the KC metro area and hundreds of others from around the world. As the President of the Board of Directors for the Kansas City Sudbury School, Beth is shaping the philosophy of a new self-directed learning community to benefit from the significant research basis found in these intersectional fields of study. This session will give you an opportunity to see the big picture of TIRC in self-directed learning communities.
