TRAUMA-INFORMED PRACTICE - 3 HOURS
Presented by Amanda Evans, MA, ATR-BC, LPC

  • Trauma: "Big T vs. little t", as well as acute, chronic, and complex trauma

  • Behaviors and physiological complaints that are indicators of trauma, including trauma symptoms that mimic other diagnoses

  • Trauma treatment and approaches available in Adams County

  • When and how to refer a client to trauma-informed treatment in Adams County

  • Signs of vicarious trauma as a professional and practicing self-care

This training has been approved for 3 continuing education hours through co-sponsorship of Temple University Harrisburg, a PA State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselor pre-approved provider of continuing education. These credit hours satisfy requirements for LSW/LCSW/LMFT/LPC biennial license renewal. Certificates of attendance documenting continuing education hours will be issued by Temple University Harrisburg at a cost of $15, payable at the event.


CHILD PROTECTION SYSTEM - 3 HOURS
Presented by Betty Heffernan-Snyder, MSW, LSW

  • The effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences on adult health and welfare

  • The dynamics of child abuse and indicators of serious physical and mental injury, serious physical neglect, sexual abuse or exploitation, and imminent risk.

  • Mandated reporters and their responsibilities under the Child Protective Services Law

  • Procedures for reporting child abuse to child protective services and how reports are handled

  • Reducing the risk of burnout

All community members are welcome to attend, but we encourage two groups of professionals to register for specific sessions, so they can benefit from discussion of common issues:

  • Behavioral health track: Trauma Informed Practice in the morning, Child Protection System in the afternoon

  • Social services track: Child Protection System in the morning, Trauma Informed Practice in the afternoon

Doors open at 8:30am. The training will begin at 9am and end at 4pm. There will be a one-hour lunch break from 12 to 1pm.

You can attend a single session, but please select no more than one morning and one afternoon session per attendee.

These trainings are free of charge and funded through a grant from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.
