Event description

Description

Caring Educators are Key

According to RecognizeTrauma.org, 26% of our learners have experienced a traumatic event before the age of 4. Students of all ages need our help to feel safe at school, regulate emotions, and see themselves as in charge of their own achievement. Trauma Informed Practice is about understanding how trauma affects how students learn, and designing our classrooms and our instruction to help children heal.

Register for Trauma Informed Practice and be part of powerful community of learners. You'll get the latest research evidence on trauma informed practice and also receive guided practice in essential trauma informed strategies.

Then, after lunch, choose one of four powerful afternoon break-out sessions:

Sanford Harmony Social Emotional Learning—Explore and get access to a free PreK - 6th Grade social emotional learning resource for trauma informed classrooms available in digital and print.

Mindfulness—Learn what mindfulness is all about, why mindfulness should be part of your trauma informed practice, and how to bring mindfulness to your classroom.

Trauma Informed Strategies in Middle and High School—Discover how to interpret your learner’s behavior and respond in ways that honor the entire classroom and support students who have experienced trauma.

Reading Room—Enjoy uninterrupted time to browse the latest books and scholarly articles. Choose either independent reading and reflection, or participate in a guided reading club with your colleagues.
