Event description
A 2-day workshop covering key steps faith communities can take to foster trauma-responsive care, build resilience & hope for all.

About this Event

Risking Connection in Faith CommunitiesRisking Connection in Faith Communities is a curriculum developed by the Sidran Institute to equip faith leaders (clergy and lay) to build trauma-responsive congregational environments. It is an adaptation of an evidence-based training for clinicians that uses the RICH approach (Respect, Information, Connection and Hope), a relational framework and methodology that is grounded in perspectives from multiple religious traditions.

By the end of the workshop participants will:

  • Understand the basic dynamics of trauma and how these experiences impact people's behavior, health, and well-being;
  • Understand the spiritual impact of trauma and the ways in which spirituality supports resilience;
  • Be able to use the RICH approach in their relationships at home and in their congregation and community;
  • Attend to their own vicarious trauma and the impact on their own well-being and leadership;
  • Be prepared to take practical steps to create a RICH, trauma-responsive environment in the congregation.
