Description

LIFESPAN CONSEQUENCES OF ACES, TOXIC STRESS and TRAUMA INFORMED CARE:

  • This training is designed for anyone working with clients/patients who have faced adversity and find themselves needing assistance to recover and heal.
  • Participants will learn about the lifespan consequences of ACES and toxic stress on the developing body and brain and the connection to chronic disease and health disparities.
  • Participants will learn how to identify both trauma and resiliency factors and how to provide services in a trauma informed system of care way.
  • A screening of a new documentary “Resilience” will be shown

Speaker, Ginger Meyer, is the Clinical Director for Children’s Medical and Mental Health

Resource Network a program of SIU School of Medicine. She has worked with

children and child welfare issues for over twenty years. She has been a leader in the

Southern Illinois community in developing a Children’s Mental Health Network to increase the

professional development opportunities for professionals who work with

traumatized children and their families.
