Description

This 2 day training will be presented by SAMHSA's Senior Consultant, Raul Alamazar. Mr. Almazar is the Sole Source provider for leadership development, training and technical assistance associated with Ohio’s trauma-informed care statewide initiative. He has provided training for ODMHAS, all of the state hospitals, Wexner Medical Center, Frontline, and many other agencies across the country.

Day 1: Thursday, August 17th

· Session 1: 9am-12:15pm (15 min break at 10:30) Trauma Informed Care as System Change: How Ohio has implemented trauma-informed care at the state level and how this shift effects mental health organizations in theory, practice, and expected outcomes.

· Session 2: 2pm-5:15pm (15 min break at 3:30) Trauma Informed Care on the Frontlines: A more practical workshop for first-responders and community partners who encounter individuals displaying symptoms of trauma. This includes methods of evaluation, interventions, best-practices, and self-care practices.

Day 2: Friday, August 18th

· Session 3: 9am-12:15pm (15 min break at 10:30) Community Round Table: This session will highlight the value of cultural competency, social welfare policy, and prevention strategies to minimize additional trauma exposure.
