Grant County Trauma Informed Care Implementation Forum

When: Friday, April 21, 2017, from 8:00am- 3:30pm. Content starts at 8:30am.

Mandy Davis, PhD, Director from Trauma Informed Oregon is excited to provide a brief overview on Trauma Informed Care and the OHA Trauma Policy in the morning, and a working meeting in the afternoon on next steps for implementation of trauma informed care in your organizations/agencies. It is an opportunity to begin to understand the benefits of a trauma informed system, and the steps needed to implement trauma informed care in your organizations. 

Agenda:

8:00am-8:30am Registration

8:30am-11:30am Content begins:

  • You will learn what trauma-informed care is (and is not)
  • Understand how service systems, unknowingly, may re-traumatize/activate survivors of complex trauma
  • You will learn about the OHA Truama Policy and resources for implementation, including the TIO Standards of Practice for Trauma Informed Care.

11:30am-12:00pm Lunch 

12:00am-3:00pm Content continued:

  • Participants will have a chance to identify how this applies to their work and cross-system partnerships and discuss next steps. 
  • You will have an opportunty to share with others in the room about your current work, challenges you are encountering, and what would help you move forward in your agencies and organizations. 

3:00pm-3:30pm  Baker City Task Force Panel

This event is for partners and stakeholders from education, healthcare, housing, child welfare, early childhood, judical, community and mental health services as well as for people with lived experience and youth and family advocates. All staff are encouraged to attend including direct service providers, management and office support staff, and to bring a few staff members from your organization or agency. 

Please Note: Some baseline understanding of Trauma informed Care is suggested to attend. 

This free event is made possible by Greater Oregon Behavioral Health, Inc (GOBHI),Families First Parent Resource Center, Grant County Community Advisory Council, and Trauma Informed Oregon, the Oregon Health Authority (OHA), Health Systems Division contract with Portland State University.

Will there be food?

Yes. Lunch is included.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

We have a limited # of spots available and may have a waitlist, so tickets will not be transferrable. 

Is there any cost for this training?

No. This event is free.

What are my transport/parking options once I get to the training?

There is free parking at the Canyon City Community Hall where the event will be located.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

It is not necessary to have a printed ticket. We will have a list of all registered participants' names at the door when you check in.

Who should attend?

Anyone with an interest in trauma informed care. In past trainings, we have had attendees from healthcare, education, justice and juvenile systems, addictions and mental health, early learning,  child welfare, housing, people with lived experience, youth, parents, administration, counselors, and social workers. All staff are encouraged to attend including direct service providers, management and office support staff. A baseline in Trauma informed care is suggested.
