“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalms 147:3 (ESV)
Trauma refers to the psychological and emotional effects of human beings experiencing disruptive events like sexual abuse, urban violence, abandonment, rape, physical and verbal abuse, incarceration, and extreme loss. People are traumatized when they are overwhelmed with intense fear, helplessness and the shock of dealing with death such as the events which have occurred in the last few weeks. Trauma, direct or indirect results in reactions which include disrupted sleep, health, emotions, relationships and hopelessness for the future. Traumatized people often turn to substance abuse and physical aggression.
The fact that Christ took not only our sins but also our suffering on Himself on the cross is good news. Rather than avoid these painful issues, through training your church can bring hope to survivors of trauma and help them engage in Scripture in ways that bring healing and restoration. This material has been used in 42 countries and translated in 150 languages. Let’s bring Christ Healing to our community.
