DESCRIPTION

This course is an introduction to the topics of trauma, and how we are called to heal and be healed through discipleship. We'll define trauma and discover how it forms individuals, communities and cultures. You will be equipped to identify trauma in a healing posture through the lens of theology, scripture, and Christian practice. They will be equipped to engage resources toward spiritual healing and learn spiritual practices of healing.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Maria King created and directs The School of Spiritual Direction Beyond Borders. Spiritual Director and Director of The School of Spiritual Direc1on Beyond Borders since 2015. The school is based on The Beloved Community as a grassroots movement with individuals and communities toward spiritual maturity. We train Spiritual Directors with a posture of Cultural Intelligence to be a partner with all narratives in their holy listening and discernment.

Maria is a Community Developer and International Certified Executive Coach serving as a Vitality Strategist in the NC Triad area. Her training came through the South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation and the Community Development Association in Chicago. She has scanned the landscape of North Carolina through her work to develop authentic engagement and partnerships in Community Development.
