Description

Trauma, Attachment, & NeuroScience-Informed Treatment: The TRANSIT Approach: It’s hard to keep up with the recent explosion of clinical research on neuroscience, trauma, and attachment. How is the brain affected by trauma? What causes attachment problems? How can we incorporate neuroscience in treating trauma and attachment problems? In this presentation, Dr. Lusk will try to answer these questions in a straightforward fashion. He will provide a foundation for understanding how attachment develops, how attachment problems are conceptualized, as well as the effects of trauma on attachment and the brain. He will then present an emerging perspective that helps us understand and treat attachment problems by integrating neuroscience, physiology, evidence-based trauma treatment, and contemporary research on attachment in a flexible, evidence-based model.

Rob Lusk, Ph.D. has been the Clinical Director at The Baby Fold for the past 23 years. He received his masters and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of California at Los Angeles. Prior to coming to The Baby Fold, Dr. Lusk was on the faculty at UCLA and Illinois Wesleyan University (where he continues to teach part time). He has presented at local, state, national, and international conferences on the effects and treatment of childhood trauma, and (as a national trainer for Cross Country Education) has trained thousands of professionals in more than 30 states on understanding and treating traumatized youth.

Registration begins at 8:15 am and the training begins at 9:00am. 3 CEU's have been approved for LCSW, LSW, LCPC, and LPC.

Light refreshments and coffee will be available in the morning.

This trainining is sponsored by Employees Community Fund of Boeing and Prevent Child Abuse Illinois.

In the event that the training is cancelled due to inclement weather or unexpected circumstances, we will notify you by email.
