Description

Join us for our next Trash Free NYC Waters Working Group Meeting! This meeting is open to everyone and is one of a series of meetings on the City's MS4 Program and the development of a comprehensive Stormwater Management Program (SWMP)*. The meeting will focus on one chapter of the SWMP which aims to reduce trash and debris that can end up in local waterways after it rains.

At this meeting we will:

*A municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) is a publicly-owned conveyance or system of conveyances (including but not limited to streets, ditches, catch basins, curbs, gutters, and storm drains) that is designed or used for collecting or conveying stormwater and that discharges to surface waters of the State. The City of New York received its first citywide MS4 permit on August 1, 2015. This permit is required under the Clean Water Act and is issued by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC). The intent of the MS4 permit is to manage urban sources of stormwater runoff to protect and improve water quality. In compliance with the MS4 Permit the City is developing a comprehensive Stormwater Management Program (SWMP) which is due to NYSDEC on August 1, 2018.
