Event description

Description

You may recognize the name Angela Tucker from her popular documentary, Closure. It documents her journey as a transracial adoptee, finding her birth parents and the many emotions that have accompanied that process.
Angela is a nationally-recognized thought leader on transracial adoption and is an advocate for adoptee rights. She has even consulted for the hit TV show, This Is Us!
We could not be more thrilled that her schedule has coincided with us in Pittsburgh and we are so privileged to bring her voice to Foster Love Project!
Angela will be giving a key note address beginning at 9:30am. This will be followed by a panel of adult adoptees who will be sharing their insights about what it looks like to grow up adopted. Special thanks to Emily Thornton, a Pittsburgh resident and Korean adoptee, who has helped us facilitate so many details for this event. She will also be joining the panel and sharing her experience as an international adoptee who has not been able to connect with her birth family.

We will close with a lunch provided by generous donors!

This workshop will be a valuable learning experience for adoptive parents, foster parents, anyone interested in foster care or adoption as well as teachers and childcare providers who work with adopted children. We encourage kids 11 & older to join in the workshop as well.

We will ask $10/family to assist in the cost of the workshop.

CHILDCARE:
We are grateful to provide free childcare for the first 50 children (ages 0-10) who register. Child care is generously provided by the Orphan Care Team of North Way Christian Community. Each worker has their clearances and has been trained in working with children of foster care and adoption.
We are also excited that Kindermusik with Kathy's Music and Snapology will both be coming to provide some activities and experiences for the kids (ages 2-10) throughout the morning.

If you are dropping off children, please plan to be there between 9-9:15am.

It's going to be an amazing event and we can't wait to learn together through these valuable voices!
