About the Workshop
The decision to adopt across racial/cultural lines is a lifelong commitment to exploring matters of race, confronting racism in all its forms and constantly developing new skills and aptitudes. This workshop will provide information, tools, and resources to create a sense of hope as parents explore their, future as a transracial family. This workshop is appropriate for adoptive parents, waiting parents, and professionals.

This workshop, “Unpacking Racial Identity for All,” will cover:
• Exploring Whiteness as a Race
• Developmental Stages of racial identity for non-transracially adopted children vs. transracially adopted children
• A discussion of White Privilege and what it REALLY means
• Resources for supporting a healthy developmental racial identity for all

About the Trainer
Astrid Castro/Astrid Castro Consulting
Astrid is an adoptee and a woman of color who grew up in a white family and community. For twenty plus years, she has traveled the country to lead youth groups, present workshops on transracial parenting, talk with children about adoption, and provide various workshops focusing on adoption.
