The League of Women Voters of the Palatine Area and the Palatine Cool Cities Environmental Team want to raise public awareness of the causes and likely impacts of climate change, help citizens learn what they can do to protect the environment and build broad support for effective climate solutions on the path to a sustainable future. Together, we are sponsoring this virtual event.

Our speaker is US Representative Sean Casten of the 6th Congressional District and a leader in areas of clean energy policies and technology. He introduced the Efficient Vehicle Leadership Act, legislation that would combat the climate crisis by reducing transportation emissions, and is a member of the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis.

Representative Casten will provide background on the electrification of our transportation system, inform us on how to save Americans’ money by creating a financial incentive for consumers to purchase more fuel-efficient vehicles, and update us on current legislation related to this issue.
