AGE of Central Texas will host the free community seminar exploring “Transportation Options for Older Adults” on Saturday, April 15th. Part of the on-going workshop series to help family members effectively care for an older adult, the free seminar will be held from 10:00 a.m. to Noon in-person at the Conley-Guerrero Senior Activity Center (808 Nile Street in Austin) and simultaneously online.
The seminar will feature a panel of Central Texas transportation experts, discussing options that are available locally for older adults. Panelists scheduled to participate include:
• Ray Anne Evans with Chariot (previously known as Drive-a-Senior), which enriches lives and communities by providing transportation and socialization to non-driving seniors, helping them to age in place.
• • Andrew Levack from the St. David’s Foundation on behalf of Transportation for Living, providing low-cost transportation services for older adults in the Austin area, to develop a sustainable, safe, and reliable means of transportation, with one-way trips costing as little as 50 cents.
• Jesse Marroquin with CapMetro, discussing the Try Transit and Metro Access programs, along with the Reduced Fare ID Card that enables eligible riders to receive a half-price fare.
• Dana Platt with the Capital Area Rural Transportation System (CARTS), a regional transportation for the non-urbanized areas of Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Hays, Fayette, Lee, Travis, and Williamson counties.
Registration for the seminar is free, but space is limited. For more information, visit www.AGEofCentralTX.org.
