Translating a New Generation of Israeli Authors
Event Information
About this Event
Tel Aviv Review of Books & Jerusalism are excited to present a special online event featuring TARB editor Olga Kirschbaum in conversation with Man Booker Prize-winning translator Jessica Cohen. The conversation will focus on Jessica’s experiences translating a new generation of Israeli authors. Jessica Cohen has translated works by David Grossman, Ronit Matalon, Dorit Rabinyan, Tom Segev, and many more. She was a joint winner of the 2017 Man Booker International Prize for her translation of Grossman's A Horse Walks Into a Bar. She is currently based in Denver, Colorado.
The conversation will take place via Zoom on July 8th at 20:00 Jerusalem Time/13:00 Eastern Time/10:00 Pacific Time. To attend the Zoom meeting you must register for the event. The number of spaces is limited. (Those who register will receive the Zoom link via email.) The event will also be broadcast live through the Jerusalism Facebook Page. For event updates and connected to Jessica's work, please visit the Facebook Event Page.
The event moderator, Dr. Olga Kirschbaum, offers her knowledge of the field of academia and policy analysis to the TARB. A maverick researcher, she is part historian (Ph.D. NYU) whose research and writing has spanned political and religious history from the ancient world to the present, Jewish-European relations, and interreligious encounters. She is also a policy analyst on contemporary economic and social issues as well as gender in Israel and abroad.
