Description

"TRANSITIONS: Becoming a Trans-Affirming Birth Worker" is a unique training workshop that provides the necessary guidance to Birth Workers on the best affirming practices for care of Trans and Non-Binary pregnant individuals, focusing specifically on the experiences of Trans and Gender Non-conforming individuals of Color. This training will show Birth Workers ways to to reduce violence, bias and insensitivity, and will address key issues such as discrimination, social, economic & cultural barriers, trauma, language, confidentiality and problematic paperwork.

Attendees will also get the chance to hear some of the experiences of Kayden Xavier Coleman, a Black Trans man living in Philly, who's pregnancy went viral via media outlets.

The training also includes a movie screening of, "A Womb of Their Own", a film that takes a look into the lives of a diverse group of masculine-identified pregnant individuals, directed by Cyn Lubow.
