Event description

Description

Please join us at the Center for Disabilities as we host a group viewing of a 3-part webinar series on transition to employment using the Discovery Process. The training, offered by a collaboration of the Montana/South Dakota Deaf-Blind Programs, teaches supporting students with significant disabilities (including deaf-blindness) the tools to: explore community employment as a post-school outcome for all of their students; begin identifying students’ interests, skills and abilities, and support needs; and identify tasks the student could offer in employment. The goal of the series is for parents/teams/professionals to use the information to create an individualized work experience for a student they are currently working with.

Part 3: Translating the Information Learned in Discovery into Characteristics of a Well-Matched Work Experience

This session will illustrate how to translate interests and skills into job tasks, and perceived barriers to employment into ideal conditions for success.

About the Trainer: Ellen Condon, M.Ed. is the Transition Projects Director, and the Montana Deaf-Blind Project Director at the University of Montana's Rural Institute on Disabilities, where she has worked since 1996 on Transition and Employment for youth with significant disabilities.
