Event Details

What:   A game tournament where you can practice your transition-y skills in good natured competition with fellow sustainability advocates.  We'll be playing a round of GBO Hawaii, the first sustainability board game that encompasses some of the changes that Transition stands for.   You can win great green prizes and earn your sustainability street cred and bragging rights!  Free snacks provided by Down to Earth, and lots of great prizes to be given away.  Help Transition Oahu raise funds for continued community outreach to help spread the Transition message.

GBO Hawaii is kind of like a green Monopoly--you're an investor and you're looking to make money, but at the same time, you're also looking to have a positive impact:  you invest in sustainable businesses in the game like carsharing services, geothermal plants, wind farms, and farmers' markets.  In doing so, you help create green collar jobs and help the state of Hawaii become energy independent, grow more of its own food, and produce less waste!   The best triple bottom line return on investment wins!

Transition Oahu

Transition Oahu is a grassroots community movement growing around our need to build increasingly sustainable and resilient communities.

We are part of a worldwide movement working to meet the challenges of peak oil, climate change, financial crises, and natural and man-made disasters while creating a better quality of life in the process.

Re-localization is key. Our aim is to collaborate with other groups and individuals to formulate our own unique Transition Initiative based on our community’s needs, resources, culture, strengths, and weaknesses.
