Formerly at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Agarwal developed and directed the pediatric to adult transition program, which grew a regional and national reputation, catering to 500 young adults with Type 1 diabetes. She recently moved to Einstein where she is building another transition clinic and exclusively focuses on caring for adolescents and young adults with Type 1 diabetes. Dr. Agarwal recently became an elected member of the NY Regional NIH-funded Center for Diabetes Translational Research, where she conducts health services research that focuses on the development and testing of innovative clinical models to improve health outcomes for young adults with Type 1 diabetes transitioning from pediatric to adult care. As part of her work, she was recently awarded an NIH grant for a national multi-site study focusing on identifying care and technology treatment barriers in young adults with Type 1 diabetes of racially/economically under-represented groups. Her more recent work has focused on disparities in transitional care. She is an active advisory board member of the College Diabetes Network and has been selected by the Endocrine Society to serve on their Advocacy and Public Outreach Core Committee and Task Force for Innovative Models of Care in Diabetes, where she advocated on Capitol Hill for people with diabetes.
