Great Persian Journeys: David Abram

Join travel writer and photographer David Abram for a talk on one of the world’s most compelling, and least understood, destinations: Iran.

David accompanied the TransIndus team on a recent trip from Tehran to Shiraz, and returned with a bumper crop of stories, insights and spectacular images. As anyone who has heard him speak before will testify, his trademark mix of travel yarns and fascinating historical anecdotes is guaranteed to inspire.

Follow in the footsteps of Alexander the Great, Robert Byron and the forgotten Jacobean adventurer, Sir Robert Sherley, who masqueraded as a British ambassador to the court of Shah Abbas in the early 17th century, to discover the extraordinary landscapes, architectural wonders and bazaars of the Persian plateau. David will round up the evening with tips on how to devise your own perfect journey in modern Iran.

We’re delighted to be hosting the talk at the antiquarian bookseller, Henry Sotheran’s, whose recently refurbished premises in Mayfair is a veritable treasure trove of classic travel literature.

Doors open at 18:30. The lecture will begin at 19:00.

Before and after the event the TransIndus team will be on hand to discuss any travel plans... or just for a friendly chat about your last holiday over a glass of wine and some light snacks!
