Intermediate Training for Medical Providers

Please join us for this important training made possible by a grant from Mosaic Medical. Content will include overview of pubertal suppression, initiation and management of hormone therapy, practices to support patients pre and post gender affirming surgical care, and strategies to promote inclusive environments and to provide affirming care.

Prerequisite

1. Working Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care

2. Working Knowledge of gender identity, disparities in healthcare typically experienced by transgender patients, basic tenents of creating an affirming environment

Description:
SOGI Training will provide a broad overview of the concerns of LGBTQ patients with a focus on affirming care for transgender individuals, including children and youth. It will also address language, pronouns, sexual health, and transition-related care. (SOGI stands for Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity)

Donations

This event does not have any cost associated with it thanks to the grant obtained by Mosaic, space provided by Partners in Care, and CME / organizational support from St Charles. Attendants are invited to make a donation (suggested amount of $25). This donation will go to Human Dignity Coalition (HDC). HDC will be working in partnership with the Central Oregon Transgender Health Coalition (COTHC) to use donations from this training to create and maintain a website that will host healthcare information in support of providers and transgender individuals in this community.

NEW MENTAL HEALTH TRACK!

Parallel to a medical training being hosted on the same day, please join us over lunch (bring your own) to learn about the role of the BHC / Mental Health provider role in supporting transgender individuals in accessing affirming medical care. This training will provide an oversight of how to collaborate with and support patients, families and providers. Training will also include information about navigating tricky situations with minors, a review of WPATH guidelines, updates on navigating insurance, and writing letters of support. Audience members should have knowledge and background in trauma informed care and basic knowledge of gender affirming care practices.

The Mental Health / Behavior Health Consultant training will be led by Jess Guerriero, M.A., M.S.W. Jess is the Intake and Referral Specialist, OHSU Transgender Health Program

Following this two hour discussion, please join us over at the Partners in Care building from 1:30 – 2:30 as we join with local medical providers and OHSU presenters to review complex cases in a multi-disciplinary setting.
