Join Alliance and Health Students Taking Action Together (HSTAT) at Morehouse School of Medicine for a panel of physicians and trans health advocates for a discussion on Trangender health in clinical and political setting! Topics to include:
General terminology and definitions used in care
Stressors and emotional experiences of making the decision to transition
Decision to initiate hormone therapy: When is it considered? What is done when families do not agree on the timeline desired by an underage patient?
Permanent vs. reversible changes
Types of therapy
HIV-related risk factors for transgender community
Health insurance/coverage for transgender people
Closing: What are some immediate changes that need to occur to better support the health and wellness of transgender and gender non-conforming patients?
