About this event
Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) was started in 1999 by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith as a vigil to honor the memory of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed in 1998. The vigil commemorated all the transgender people lost to violence since Rita Hester's death, and began an important tradition that has become the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance.
We will come together at Bethesda United Church of Christ on November 20, 2022 at 7 PM in a trans-led inter-religious commemoration to honor the memory of all who have lost their lives because of anti-transgender hate this year. Please join us then stay after to share a meal of soup and bread together.
A NOTE ABOUT MASKING: COVID-19, RSV, and other contagious diseases are better controlled through social distancing and masking. We would prefer people mask for this event. If you do not have a mask, they will be available at the church.
This is a multi-platform event. Join online here (opens at 6 PM): bit.ly/tdor-zoom
