Description

This session is the part of the Humana Summit on LGBT Health.

Participants will -
1. Become familiar with common terms/vocabulary used within transgender community
2. Understand the prevalence of mental health issues and health disparities among transgender youth
3. Learn about evidence based mental health treatments across development (early, middle, late childhood) as well as treatments shown to be ineffective and/or harmful to transgender youth

Dr. Brady received her degree in Child Clinical Psychology from Ohio University. She completed internship in Child Psychology at the University of Washington Seattle Children's Hospital where she began working with Differences of Sexual Development and developed an interest in gender nonconforming youth. Dr. Brady next went on to fellowship here at the University of Louisville where she continued to work with youth identifying as LGBTQ. Since starting her formal career as a psychologist, Dr. Brady has further honed her skills in transgender mental health care for youth developing two interdisciplinary gender transition clinics in Minneapolis, Minnesota and here in Louisville through Pediatric Endocrinology. Dr. Brady is a member of WPATH and an ally and advocate for the LGBTQ community.
